Remington Remette Portable Typewriter
The Remette portable typewriter was designed to compete with Smith-Corona’s Zephyr portable typewriter. This model, which was built in 1938, retailed for $29.75.
From 1938 to 1942, more than 190,000 of these typewriters were manufactured. It was listed as a “Consumer Reports Best Buy” in 1941.
Cards are 4.25 x 6 inches in size, printed on 14-pt card stock with a high-gloss exterior and a blank, uncoated interior (translation: they are shiny on the outside, but you can use virtually any writing implement on the inside without worrying about smudging).
